Goondiwindi State High School is a rural school of approximately 500 students and 85 teaching and ancillary staff, located on the Queensland-New South Wales border, four hours south-west of Brisbane. As a proud rural school we work hard to maintain excellent relationships with the community and this is highlighted by our strong industry partnerships, employment pathways for students across the senior years and our successful work experience program.
At Goondiwindi State High School, our curriculum is designed to provide diverse learning experiences that allow students to achieve success across a range of core and elective subject areas. Students have opportunities to experience a broad range of subjects in the Junior school to ensure they make informed decisions about the pathway options in the senior school. To complement the core curriculum, a wide range of extra-curricular activities are available to students. Goondiwindi State High School experiences significant success in the sporting arena and in cultural pursuits. Our school recognises the value of camps and the educational benefits of learning outside of the classroom. Camps are held at various times throughout High School with themes which relate to the development of the students; Year 7 Belonging, Year 9 Resilience, Year 11 Leadership and Teamwork. An additional camp opportunity is available for Year 11 students to experience a Cultural Tour of a capital city in Australia.
